NOTRE DAME DES VERNETTES AND ITS BENEFICIAL SPRING IN THE COMMUNE OF PEISEY.

At an altitude of 1800 m, spectacular view, many walks all around.

The sanctuary is listed as a historical monument.
The Vernettes site includes a Marian shrine, a guest house, a chapel of benevolent oratory, and a Stations of the Cross. Five pilgrimage routes lead there: paths lined with ancient crosses.

It was in 1702 that a certain Jean Baudin, freed from a skin disease, decided, as a sign of thanks, to build an oratory dedicated to Our Lady of Pity, patron saint of lepers.

The sanctuary dates back to 1720. The reception center dates back to 1766, and the bell tower dates back to 1777.
It is a vibrant meeting and prayer space, visited year-round by pedestrians, an hour’s walk from the last village, or by skiers on the edge of the Peisey ski area.
